Although engineering education received much attention in India ever since independence, it is only during last decades, engineering education has expanded remarkably as indicated by rapidly increasing number of engineering institutions, massive increase in the students admissions, increase in number of engineering disciplines. Within this technological context, engineers play an ever more significant role. They develop new manufacturing processes and products; create and manage energy, transportation and communication systems; prevent new and redress old environmental problems; create pioneering health care devices.
